Case Study – Supporting Endomag with their hire for an Events Specialist

Endomag is a medical technology company devoted to improving the global standard of cancer care.

Their Sentimag® probe, Magseed® marker and Magtrace® lymphatic mapping agent are used and trusted by many of the world’s leading physicians and cancer centres.

Their goal is to help women with breast cancer avoid surgery when it isn’t needed, and experience better outcomes when it is. They’ve helped hundreds of thousands of women around the world access more precise and less invasive breast cancer care.

Founded in 2007 as a spin-out from the University of Houston and the University College London

(UCL), they continue to develop their unique clinical platform from their headquarters in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Requirement

James has successfully partnered with Endomag on several vacancies in their Marketing team, including Marketing Executive, Graphic Designer and Email Marketing Specialist requirements.

This Events Specialist role was a completely new role for Endomag, to help plan and deliver on their comprehensive list of clinician-facing conference around the world.

James had previously visited the Endomag offices and met with the CMO and Marketing Manager to get a full understanding of the office environment and culture, keeping abreast with new

developments as they came through. For this role, he worked alongside their Communications Manager to source the ideal candidate.

Challenge

Endomag were already in the middle of their recruitment campaign for the role at the point of engaging with Rosslyn David. Having shortlisted a small selection of candidates and held a round of interviews, they had so far been unsuccessful in finding a candidate with the level of experience required, specifically with a background in Medical Technology.

To this point they had run direct adverts and engaged an external recruitment partner, both techniques of which adopted inbound recruitment methodology and had exhausted the ‘active’ candidate market.

Solution

James ran a thorough project mapping the candidate market specific to need, followed up with a targeted Headhunt/outreach campaign. This would include the C.80% of prospective candidates who are not ‘active’ jobseekers.

Candidates considered would understand the various nuances of MedTech events, with experience of running a similar number of events, to a similar size audience, of similar delegates, both nationally and internationally.

James held prequalification conversations/interviews with 14 prospective candidates before introducing a final shortlist of 4 candidates to the client. From this shortlist, Endomag progressed 3 candidates to interview, followed up with a subsequent offer and placement

At the time of approaching Rosslyn David, we had been recruiting for an Events Specialist role for over six weeks, with little success. James knew the right questions to ask and understood our candidate requirements instantly, quickly turning around a shortlist of high-calibre candidates.

One of this shortlist turned out to be the ideal candidate, ticking all of the boxes for our growing company. Based on my first experience of working with him, I'd highly recommend James and his thorough approach to anyone looking to hire the best talent into their Marketing team.
