Case Study – Supporting Bennetts with their hire for a Senior Marketing Manager

Bennetts is one of the UK’s leading motorcycle insurance specialists and provides cover for over 200,000 customers.

Bennetts is also at the heart of the British motorcycling community. The brand backs Britain’s brightest young racing talents, including MotoGP star Scott Redding and up and coming teenagers Rory Skinner and Josh Owens. Other racing sponsorships include the Bennetts Suzuki British Superbike team and Isle of Man TT racing legend John McGuinness.

There’s also BikeSocial.co.uk, one of the fastest growing websites for all the latest motorcycling news, reviews and events.

Requirement

This was a key requirement for Bennetts.  A new role to bridge a gap between the Commercial Director and the marketing team.

Far from the traditional Senior Marketing Manager role in a financial services/insurance business, this role would focus on acquisition and retention through brand allegiance. 

Develop Bennetts foothold in the motorcycle community so they are ‘first thought’ when it comes to motorcycle insurance.

Challenge

Bennetts were already in the middle of their recruitment campaign for the role at the point of engaging with Rosslyn David. 

Having held a round of interviews they had so far been unsuccessful in finding a candidate with the hybrid mix of strategy development and team leadership, combined with hands on delivery.

Solution

With this in mind, James ran a thorough project mapping the market specific to need. 

Using outbound search methods, James held prequalification conversations with 29 prospective candidates before introducing a final shortlist of 9 candidates to the client. 

From this shortlist, Bennetts progressed 8 to a first stage interview, of which 3 were progressed to second interview, which then resulted in the placement of our introduced candidate.
